“This president has brought us out of the dark and into the light,” is how Michelle Obama described her husband, the undocumented president to an applauding crowd of 450 at a campaign event yesterday in Nashville, Tennessee.
Few, if any, would have expected a Sermon on the Mount from self-centered, hedonistic Michelle Obama on the heels of Holy Week.
Claiming Christ-like status at Easter time is something only demons of the Prince of Darkness would attempt.
“This president has brought us out of the dark and into the light” is certainly one of the most audacious things ever uttered from any presidential campaign trail.
In terms of real time, Mrs. Obama was right on cue with Easter scripture from the book of Matthew: “The people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.” (Matthew 4:16).
Perhaps she intercepted her Nicodemus Moment from one of her husband’s Blackberry ‘devotionals’ sent from Joshua DuBois, the head of Barack Obama’s Office of Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
