How To Talk About Religion The Ronald Reagan Way
The Godfather has something important to say on Ronald Reagan. It time to listen.
How to Talk About Religion the Ronald Reagan Way by The Godfather over at Godfather Politics
It’s been said that religion and politics do not mix. It all depends on how religion and politics mix. One of the best examples of mixing religion and politics is the “Evil Empire” speech that Ronald Reagan gave to the National Association of Evangelicals on March 8, 1983 in Orlando, Florida.
Reagan warmed up the audience with references to prayer and got a laugh out of the audience. Then he told a joke about a clergyman and a politician who are in heaven. Again, they laughed. It was a great dig about politicians.
At the same time, he did not denigrate everybody serving in government. “So, I tell you there are a great many God-fearing, dedicated, noble men and women in public life, present company included. And, yes, we need your help to keep us ever mindful of the ideas and the principles that brought us into the public arena in the first place.” Masterful.

25 Truths, 5 Truisms
25 Truths, 5 Truisms
1. In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm and three or more is a congress.
- John Adams
2. If you don't read the newspaper you are uninformed, if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed.
- Mark Twain
3. Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But then I repeat myself.
- Mark Twain
4. I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.
- Winston Churchill
5. A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.
- George Bernard Shaw
6. A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man, which debt he proposes to pay off with your money.
- G. Gordon Liddy
7. Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.
- James Bovard, Civil Libertarian (1994)
8. Foreign aid might be defined as a transfer of money from poor people in rich countries to rich people in poor countries.
- Douglas Casey, Classmate of Bill Clinton at Georgetown University
9. Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.
- P.J. O'Rourke, Civil Libertarian
10. Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else.
- Frederic Bastiat, French economist (1801-1850)
11. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
- Ronald Reagan (1986)
12. I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.
- Will Rogers
13. If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it's free!

14. In general, the art of government consists of taking as much money as possible from one party of the citizens to give to the other.
- Voltaire (1764)
15. Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you!

- Winston Churchill
20. The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin.
- Mark Twain
21. The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools.

22. There is no distinctly Native American criminal class...save Congress.
- Mark Twain
23. What this country needs are more unemployed politicians.
- Edward Langley, Artist (1928-1995)
24. A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
- Thomas Jefferson
25. We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office.
- Aesop
FIVE BEST SENTENCES
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for...another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they worked for, that is the beginning of the
end of any nation!
Can you think of a single reason for not sharing this?
Neither could I......

Fond Memories of Ronnie
Fond Memories of Ronnie by Marcus Lloyd over at American Thinker
Our 40th president's birthday earlier this month caused me to reflect upon how Ronald Reagan impacted my life.
In 1981, I was a young singer/songwriter, clueless about politics, when Ronald Reagan won the presidency. An event planner asked me to perform at an inaugural ball.
Reporters asked, "Why are you here and why do you like Reagan?" I could not help noticing the baffled looks on their faces upon hearing my reply. "I like Reagan because every time I hear this man speak, I feel good about my country and myself."
I later learned that as a black person, I was supposed to hate Reagan. Democrats said Reagan's talk about welfare reform was "code" for his racism and hatred of blacks. As I said, I was young and clueless regarding politics, codes, and such. And yet, in my gut, I knew that Reagan was a good man.
My aunt hated Reagan. She said, "Reagan wants to cut my check!" Even as a non-politically informed person, I noticed my aunt's bold and arrogant sense of entitlement in her voice when she said, "My check!" Here is a woman who from as far back as I can remember lived in the projects on welfare. I do not ever remember her having a job. In fairness, if my aunt had a disability which prevented her from working, I never knew of it, as it was not visible. She had five kids and a boyfriend, but no husband.

It's the Leadership, Stupid
It's the Leadership, Stupid by James V Capua over at American Thinker
The recent anniversary of Ronald Reagan's birth brought home why so many have been discouraged by the Republican primaries. We remembered that while Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, et.al. have been scrambling to, as the current usage goes, "show leadership" -- with 157-point economic plans, visions of Moon colonies, and mostly documenting what bums the other guys are -- Ronald Reagan never sought to "show" any such thing. Instead, even as a candidate, Reagan led, and it is the sober recognition of the extraordinary effectiveness of his leadership, and not some gauzy-focus nostalgia that makes him stand, even now, a head taller than his would-be successors.
Reagan led not through "sticking to the issues," as the head-shaking Republican political gurus are urging the squabbling contenders to do. He led by speaking simultaneously to our hearts and our heads. Reagan invoked, explained, and demonstrated the practical application of time-tested truths about economic life, war and peace, and human freedom in a way that encouraged people battered by inflation and unemployment and fearing national decline and a diminished future. We do not remember Reagan claiming that he or anybody who worked for him was brilliant, nor bragging about his experience in government or achievements in the private sector. For Reagan, the brilliance worth celebrating lay not in Ivy-League degrees, but in incandescent values, and the achievements that merited pride were those of Americans prospering in freedom as they made unprecedented contributions to the well-being of the rest of the world.

Happy Birthday, Good Sir! You Are Still, and Forever in Our Hearts
I cried when I read this post. It is a good memorial for great man and President, Ronald Reagan.
Happy Birthday, Good Sir! You Are Still, and Forever in Our Hearts by Alan Sexton over at Green Mountain Scribes
I still tremble when I see this picture, and share the sentiments of this hero, this somber Marine, who unknowingly but most effectively expressed the sentiments of untold millions of people here at home and worldwide as he saluted the casket containing the body of one of the finest men, and greatest and most beloved presidents our Republic has known.
May we always remember the “Gipper” and take pause to offer a prayer for President Reagan on this, the occasion of the 101st anniversary of his birthday. -Alan Sexton, GMS

Quote Of The Day (2-6-2012)
“I suggest to you there is no left or right, only an up or down. Up to the maximum of individual freedom consistent with law and order, or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism; and regardless of their humanitarian purpose, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have, whether they know it or not, chosen this downward path.”

Time For Reaganomics Again
Today, is becoming a recommend post and article day. I found another good article again. This post comes from Godfather Politics has to do with Reaganomics.
Is It Time Reaganomics Once Again- by Giacomo
When Ronald Reagan entered the White House in January of 1981, the nation’s economy was in a tailspin from the disastrous administration of Jimmy Carter. He had to do something and do it quickly.
The result has come to be known as Reaganomics and consisted of four basic things.

Questions I Asked Myself Lately.
Questions I Asked Myself Lately
By Kathleen S. Blake
Where are the heroes in these modern times?
When are they going to rise during these chaotic times?
Where are the George Washington's?
Where are the Thomas Jefferson's?
Where are the Martin Luther King's, the Gandhi's?
Why are the Winston Churchill's to encourage their country during its darkest hour?
Will they arise during the troubling times?
Where are the Paul Revere's that will take a warning under a midnight sky?
Where are the Ronald Reagan's?
Where are the Samuel Adams?
Where are the Abraham Lincoln's?
Lord, help us, we can't afford a divided nation?
Where are the prayer warriors that will pray for the nation?
Don't they understand we are under siege, we have Benedict Arnolds among us.
Where are the Audie Murphy's?
Where are the General George Patton's?
Don't people understand we need great strategiststo make a stand?
Where are that Thomas Paine's of common sense?
Don't these people understand we have liars and manipulators in our government?
Will men and women of these qualities arise?
Lord, please, send them to us.
