Guns, Butter, Jobs And Birth Control

Guns, Butter, Jobs and Birth Control by Daniel Greenfield over at Canada Free Press

oba

The old totalitarian paradigm was guns or butter. The Soviet Union could provide its people with the basic food groups or it could run a military race to conquer as much of the world as possible. As a totalitarian ideology, it naturally chose the latter.

The modern incarnation of the hammer and sickle, the liberals who took it slow, working from within the system instead of seizing the reins and executing anyone who got in the way, isn’t big on guns. The Clinton and Obama administrations both inflicted massive cuts on the military because it was extraneous to their domestic goals. They didn’t want guns, but they didn’t want butter either. They wanted a third thing.

The Obama Administration is about as interested in creating jobs as the denizens of the Kremlin were in making sure that every Russian family had plenty of milk and butter on the table. Totalitarian ideologies don’t care about individual welfare and they certainly are not interested in individual empowerment. An improved economy would weaken the left, it would undermine its central program of promoting fear and dependence on a social safety net and a rights infrastructure administered by them.

The left is not very good at discussing the economy. Ask its leaders to apportion blame for economic problems and they are right there with denunciations of the banks, corporations and a thousand other factors. But ask it how to repair an economy and after some mumbling the answer is usually to fund a bunch of its pet projects that have nothing to do with the economy and everything to do with its social agenda.

The left’s goal is to transform society, not to empower individuals to make their own choices. That is why an arena like birth control is its natural territory. A society with state subsidized birth control has a low birth rate, low marriage rate, high demand for social subsidies and a high demand for immigrants to compensate for the low birth rate and pay for the social subsidies. Now whether or not you think such a society is a good thing, it is the kind of society that the left wants.

Political Correctness- Tool of Marxism

Political Correctness- Tool of Marxism by Douglas V. Gibbs over at Canada Free Press

“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas; (1884-1968) six-time U.S. Presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America. Source: 1948 - from an interview during the presidential campaign. Norman Thomas and Gus Hall, the U.S. Communist Party Candidate, both quit American politics, agreeing that the Republican and Democratic parties had adopted every plank of the Communist/Socialist agenda and they no longer had an alternate party platform on which to run.

The List of 45 reveals the communist goals Marxists have pursued to facilitate the internal collapse of Western civilization. In the process, though the Soviet Union fell, they have not let up on their work to take over the U.S., and the rest of the West, from within. The internal madness has been supported in the United States by the democrat party. Through liberalism they are using political correctness to deepen the Marxist hold on America.

It is not difficult to realize that Political Correctness goes hand in hand with Marxism. Political Correctness is cultural Marxism. A politically correct society handcuffs free speech and free press, fuels thought control, and compromises a traditional social order for a more controlled system ruled over by an elite political oligarchy.

Inferiority Of Liberalism

On the Intellectual Inferiority of Liberalism by James Lewis over at the American Thinker

Liberalism used to be a respectable position for intelligent, well-meaning, and informed people. That was a long time ago. No longer.

Today the "liberal" faith requires an extraordinary act of ignorance, purposeful forgetting, and constant spinning. To be a faithful "liberal" today you have to forget the whole 20th century, and its 100 million victims of the radical left -- that is, victims of Obama's brand of leftism. You have to shut out of your mind the fact that Obama hails from today's Chicago Machine, the most storied and undemocratic political machine since Boss Tweed.

You have to ignore the bloody history of black nationalism in America, where Obama's hero Malcolm X was assassinated by the followers of Elijah Muhammad. You have to ignore the racial blackmail that has controlled American politics since the rise of the post-MLK "civil rights" movement, when all the heroic actions of a few civil rights campaigners like Martin Luther King, Jr., was taken over by dangerous racial demagogues like Rev. Al, the Rev. Wright and the radical left.

All those facts have to be sunk into your capacious black hole of memory, along with the history of the Soviet Union and its 100 million helpless victims. The Nazis only had 13 years to kill six million Jews, and even more Gypsies, homosexuals, Poles, democratic Germans, and of course, the religious. The Soviets and Chinese had seventy years or longer, and killed correspondingly more millions of victims with the same style of sociopathic control freakery. North Korea is the biggest Communist museum piece today, but nobody on the liberal side seems to take any responsibility for it -- just as they deny their alliance with Muslim fascists all over the world, who are agitating for another century of mass murder.

Obama’s “Fairness” is Pure Communism

Do you really think Obama is about “fairness”? If You think so, you really need to think about me selling you the Brooklyn Bridge again. (sarcasm intended on latter sentence)

Obama’s “Fairness” is Pure Communism by Alan Caruba

It is clear that Barack Obama’s main campaign theme is going to be about “fairness.” This is one of those words like “hope” and “change” that can mean many different things to different people. No one can ever accuse Obama of clarity. He is a consummate sloganeer, but the results of those slogans hardly represent anything resembling fairness. Or success.

The one incontrovertible fact about life is that it is not fair.

Some are born into wealth and some into moderate means and some into poverty. Moreover, some are born with inherent gifts and talents, while others are not. Some are born into “dysfunctional” families where a parent or parents are alcoholics or use illegal drugs, in jail or just gone.

The list of the plus and minuses in life are long and varied; city-born, country-born; the lure of gang life versus the expectation of rising early to do farm chores. Inner city schools versus suburban ones with greater budgets and opportunities. There is no real fairness and those who see the obstacles and overcome them do so because of an innate desire to achieve their goals.

Power To The People Always Ends In The Hands Of One Brutal Man

Communism Video Documentary: Power to the People Always Ends in the Hands of one Brutal Man by Maggie

I have been rereading Winds of War by Herman Wouk. I read it many years ago and remembered liking it. I was struck by the story of a WWII German submarine attacking a British Royal Navy compound at Scapa Flow at night, sinking a British battleship. I didn’t recognize the name Scapa Flow, so did some investigating and found that the event was real, as were the entire details of the event. As I’ve moved through the book, I’ve continued checking names and events and find that the book is solid historical fiction. At my place in the book now, Germany violated their pact with Russia in 1941 and put the Soviets underseige, where eventually Germany lost. This brings me to a video-documentary that I found online – free, about the the Russian people and their yearning for ‘people power,’ a false hope that decimated the country under Communism.

The website linked below, has a long list of documentaries. One that caught my attention is pertinent to today’s politics and the book I am reading. For three years we have listened to Obama drone on-and-on about equality, spreading the wealth, a fair playing-field, a level playing-field, and becoming more like Europeans. His background is deeply meshed in Communism, and the video I watched is, wait for it…Communism.

Quote Of The Day (1-16-2012)

“America is the force that defeated communism and all those who would put the human soul itself into bondage.”

For Those Of You Who Think Communism Is Great You Should Read These Two Articles.

1)  How Kim Jong Il starved his own people

Contrary to the myth that North Korea starved because they diverted resources to their nuclear program, this piece by Jordan Weissmann in the Atlantic shows that it was the collapse of the Soviet Union and the inability of North Korea to abandon its inefficient food distribution system that led to 3 million people starving back in the 1990's:

The demise of the USSR threw North Korea's entire economy into chaos, and agriculture was among its most important casualties. Without imports of cheap fuel (self-sufficiency had its limits), the country's industrial base fractured, and production of fertilizer dwindled. Farm yields plummeted, and the government started a campaign urging citizens to consume less. Its cheery slogan: "Let's eat only two meals a day."

2)  Reminders of the Horrors of Communism

This past weekend, two stark reminders of the nightmare that communism was, and continues to be, left the world stage. These two people couldn’t be more different in their outlook and actions. One was Václav Havel, the Czech playwright, poet and intellectual, who spent years in prison, but whose willingness to stand up and tell the truth about the lies and brutality that were the essence of the Soviet Union and his own captive nation makes him a significant figure in the pantheon of those instrumental in defeating the Soviet Union. In 1993 he became the president of the Czech Republic. Here is a worthy obituary from The Telegraph.

My former associate Dan Flynn spent time in Havel’s prison cell in Prague in 2006, which was then a hotel room, reading some of his most powerful words, including the essay he was perhaps known best for, “The Power of the Powerless.” In it Havel wrote, “If the main pillar of the system is living a lie, then it is not surprising that the fundamental threat to it is living the truth.” I recommend Flynn’s moving tribute, “Reading Václav Havel from His Jail Cell,” in which he describes Havel’s strength, wisdom and courage.
