Yeah right. We can’t count on Democrats to protect us. They leave people to die in Benghazi. Their so corrupt it isn’t funny. Getting justice from a Democrat is like getting no justice at all. Some of the Democrats are chauvinist pigs, they think women are fragile as fowlers and can’t protect themselves.  Women are suppose to depend their opinion. Get a gun ladies protect yourself. At least you stand a chance of survival. Police usually don’t get to your location till after the fact.

While Attorney General Eric Holder was held in contempt of Congress, it was a bittersweet day for the family of slain Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. The disrespect the Democrats showed Agent Terry was appalling, including the Congressional Black Caucus walking out on the contempt vote.

Agent Terry's brother Kent responded to the walkout in a grieved email:

Very sad that our childish Government walks out. What kind of respect? Does that tell you they're for getting justice for Brian and [Jaime] Zapata and any law enforcement that dies in the line of duty? This is the respect they get.

The families of Agent Terry and the 300+ dead Mexicans deserve justice, and it is telling that members of Congress are more interested in protecting one of the most powerful, sheltered men in the country rather than pursuing that justice.

I caught a portion of testimony by a Jewish woman who escaped extermination in a Nazi concentration camp. She said that upon their arrival, she was separated from her family and herded with other young women who looked strong enough to work.

 

The women were ordered to strip naked. Their heads and bodies were shaved. She said that even sisters did not recognize each other afterwards.

 

Clueless regarding the Nazis' agenda, the naïve new arrival asked a fellow prisoner who had been there a while, "When do we get to see our families?" The woman replied, "Stupid girl. See the smoke coming out of those stacks over there? That's where they are burning your family." The young woman said that petrifying fear overtook her body.

 

Folks, can you imagine the horror and all-encompassing fear? I cannot imagine being in that woman's situation, and I pray that I never will. How could human beings treat fellow human beings with such cruelty?

Oil is a national security issue. Without oil, America does not move. There’s a scene in the film Battle of the Bulge showing Nazi efforts to commandeer a huge fuel depot. In order to advance their ground troops, the Nazis had to secure Allied fuel supplies for their tanks, trucks, and planes. Germans lacked sufficient fuel reserves to reach Antwerp. Armies and economies run on fuel. Wind, solar, and battery power will not cut it.

 

The majority of Americans seem to understand this. It’s a huge campaign issue. Not only is oil the lifeblood of our nation’s economy, it’s a huge job producer as well. The oil and gas industries employ, on the low side, 2.2 million people. This doesn’t count the thousands of jobs that depend on petroleum products for their industries:

 

It might be one of the biggest issues in the upcoming presidential election. . . . CBS News exit polls found 77 percent of those voting in seven Super Tuesday states say rising gas prices were an important factor in their vote.

 

The poll reflects growing consumer anxiety as gas prices have risen nearly 50 cents a gallon in just over two months.

 

Consumers have been telling us they are cutting corners because for most driving is a necessity.

Those who follow politics more intently than I will no doubt be able to identify why, specifically, various incumbent Senators and Representatives have decided not to run for office in the 2012 elections, but as of this writing 43 incumbents have made it known they will not seek reelection.

 

Among the one hundred members of the Senate, five Democrats, three Republicans, and one Independent have made it known they will not seek office again thus far. In the House, thirty-four members have decided not to run; twenty are Democrats and fourteen are Republicans.

 

The Senate is composed of one hundred members, two from each State, while the House, based on population distribution, has 435 members, subject to districting that often favors one party over another. There are “safe” seats in districts that have a preponderance of one party’s registered voters.

Here’s the way politics works: Liberals overreach and conservatives compromise. In the end Liberals win. Liberals will propose a ten percent tax increase, and Republicans will settle for five, the very number Democrats hoped to get. It might take Liberals longer to get to their goal, but they know that eventually they’ll reach it. They can always count on Republicans to compromise.

 

What’s true on taxes is also applies to religion. There’s a provision in the health care law which requires religious employers to provide insurance coverage for contraceptives. John Boehner called the rule “an unambiguous attack on religious freedom in our country. If the president does not reverse the department’s attack on religious freedom, then the Congress, acting on behalf of the American people and the Constitution we are sworn to uphold and defend, must,” Boehner said.

 

Then there’s the accusation that military chaplains were forbidden to read a letter to military personnel about the mandate. Now we’re hearing that the controversy may have been “overblown.”

 

Did the Obama Administration purposely overreach figuring that the Republicans will broker a compromise? The Administration will get some of what it wants, set a precedent, and the Republicans will leave the negotiating table declaring victory that they were able to get some concessions. In the end, new regulations will force the church to comply with some of the regulations or face sanctions. Republicans will say that the church needs to compromise. Liberals will come back for more at a later time. They won’t stop until they silence the church. We’ve seen this before.

Pew- Democrats getting hammered by religious voters by Moe Lane over at Red State

 

The topline number in this Pew survey shows that the current breakdown among registered voters is 43/48 GOP/Dem, which is a seven point shift from their 39/51 results in 2008. Now that alone should worry the Democrats, seeing as Pew found that the breakdown in 2010 was 43/47, which was the year where Democrats got shellacked across the country; but the news is if anything worse when you look at the breakdown by religious affiliation. A lot of attention will be on how Jewish support for the GOP went from 20/72 to 29/65 between ’08 and today; but what may be even more important is that that GOP support among white Mainline Protestant and white Catholic voters flipped from 45/45 and 41/49 in 2008 to 51/39 & 49/42 in 2011. How this will translate into likely voters is, of course, anybody’s guess… but if you’ve been wondering why the President is suddenly talking about how neat God is, it’s probably because somebody on his staff is keeping track of Pew.
