Kent Simpson: A Pastor and His Prophecy
It was in May of 1995; my family and I traveled to Hawaii to minister and make new friends. One of the churches where I ministered on the island of Oahu really touched my heart. It wasn't a large congregation, nor did they have a new building, but the people were so special, so full of love.
At that time Pastor Rick Frasure was the overseer of the local congregation and a few other island churches. Before I had arrived, Pastor Frasure had sent in a request to me wanting a word from God. Of course, at the time he had sent in the request, I didn't know that he was a pastor of a congregation nor anything else about him other than his name and address. Like most of my days, I sat down to record a few prophesies for people who had need of a word from God. When I got Pastor Frasure's request I did not feel anything special; however, I did notice that his word was a bit unusual – it was if I were talking to him while he was busy about his job. Not giving too much thought about it, I packaged up the cassette tape and mailed it along with all the others I had recorded for the day.
A number of months later, after I had sent Pastor Frasure's prophecy to him, I found myself meeting him for the first time just minutes before we were to hold services. I had been asked to bring the message to the congregation that morning. The people at Windward Worship Center, a.k.a. Reunion Hawaii Church, were lovely people and a few ladies and their daughters worshiped our Lord with a Christian Hawaiian dance. It was just so moving, and it made me really want to move to the island and be a part of the church.
After a few praise and worship songs, Pastor Frasure took to the microphone and I began to prepare myself to go up and deliver the message however, Pastor Frasure had a testimony he wanted to share with us. He started out by telling us how he had heard about a minister who claimed that he could hear God and tell things about people's lives and all he needed was a name and an address. Just for humor's sake, he wrote in for a prophecy thinking that this ought to make for a good laugh. A couple of weeks later he received his cassette tape with his prophecy recorded on it, and he wanted to hear the word by himself before sharing with any of his family. He decided to go into the sanctuary and do some straightening up before services were to begin.
As I recall, he said that as he walked to the back of the church to the sound booth he told God, "If this man can really speak for You then he will tell me what I am doing." Then he placed the tape in the sound system, and as he stepped down to begin straightening up the place the tape began to play: "Now I see you stepping out from behind the sound booth going about the sanctuary straightening up God's house for His people to come gather and worship."
It was enough to give Pastor Frasure the answer he was looking for. What appeared to him to be so amazing was that this word was recorded almost two weeks prior, and he wondered how I was to know what he would be asking of God right before he played the tape. Needless to say, there was a certain fear of God that came over Pastor Frasure; he and I became friends very quickly. I think of Pastor Rick Frasure and his family often and wonder how they are getting along and where they live now in Idaho.
