A driver last name is Funk is being issued warrant for his arrest. Why you asked? He chose the wrong person to chase.
Warrant issued for man who chased West Lafayette police chief in road rage incident by Sophia Voravong, Journal And Courier
Dennis T. Funk chose the wrong motorist to chase after and pick a fight with on Aug. 2.
Now the 37-year-old Williamsport man has a warrant out for his arrest. He was charged Wednesday in Tippecanoe Superior Court 2 with operating a motor vehicle after his driving privileges were forfeited for life, a Class C felony.
That other motorist? It was Jason Dombkowski, chief of the West Lafayette Police Department, in his unmarked, department-issued Jeep Cherokee.
The afternoon of Aug. 2, according to a probable cause affidavit, Dombkowski was facing south on U.S. 52 in Lafayette, waiting to turn left into Fast Eddie’s Lube/Wash. While still waiting, a white Saturn, headed north on U.S. 52, came to an abrupt stop in the opposite left-turn lane and almost struck Dombkowski’s Jeep head-on.
“I shook my finger at him, shook my head at him,” Dombkowski told the Journal & Courier on Wednesday.
A published telephone number in Williamsport could not be found to reach Funk for comment. Court records do not indicate whether he has hired an attorney.
According to the affidavit, Dombkowski turned into Fast Eddie’s as planned. But he soon noticed in his rearview mirror that the Saturn turned into Fast Eddie’s, too — reportedly speeding through the car wash lot and pulling behind Dombkowski’s Jeep.
