Director James W. Payne Of Department Of Children Services Resigned Monday

 

An Investigation was started concerning Director Payne on his role in a child neglect case. This child neglect case involved his own family. It was exposed by the Indianapolis Star investigation

Despite the resignation Monday of Department of Child Services Director James W. Payne, Democrat lawmakers said an investigation is still needed to get to the bottom on Payne’s role in a child neglect case involving his own family that was exposed by an Indianapolis Star investigation.

Payne’s resignation comes a day after The Star published results of a months-long investigation into Payne’s involvement in a DCS neglect case involving his grandchildren.

Democrats were responding to a statement by State Rep. Cindy Noe, R-Indianapolis, that Payne’s resignation closed the door on concerns about the ethics of his actions.
