Conservatives Being Locked Out As Romney Ascends By Tad Cronn
Conservatives Being Locked Out as Romney Ascends by Tad Cronn over at Godfather Politics
Early in the GOP presidential campaign I was holding on to hope that the country, or at least conservatives, had learned something from the drubbing we got in the 2008 election.
But once again, the GOP appears poised to nominate the worst of the worst as its candidate and to hand Obama the keys to the White House for another four years. Meanwhile, real conservatives are watching from the sidelines.
Newt Gingrich, who is staying in the race, admitted Friday at a Wisconsin campaign stop that Mitt Romney is beating the pants off of him.
“I think Mitt Romney is clearly the front-runner,” Gingrich said according to Fox News. “I think he will probably get 1,144 (delegates), but I think he has to earn it.”
The media had picked Romney early on as their favorite for the GOP, because he was “middle of the road,” which is doublespeak for “liberal.”
But as the primaries are a numbers game leading up to the convention, there was still the possibility that the conservative outrage over Obama might yet bear fruit.

Is The Republican Base Shrugging?
Is the Republican Base Shrugging- by Mark over at Mark America
It’s hard not to notice that despite his win in the Nevada Caucuses on Saturday, aggregate statewide turn-out seems to have been substantially down. This follows a decreased turn-out in Florida, causing many to wonder if the current crop of candidates simply is not exciting the Republicans’ conservative base. It seems there’s an increasingly fatalistic segment of the conservative base looking at the nomination process and giving up in disgust. This isn’t going to help the Republicans, whomever their eventual nominee, and i think I understand it perfectly well, but more, I’ve seen its expression in the turnout but also in social media like Twitter and Facebook. Conservatives are thoroughly discouraged, and if that’s what the party wanted it, they may yet get more come November.

Trump’s Paper Tiger Rebellion Against Conservatives
Trump’s Paper Tiger Rebellion Against Conservatives by Daren Jonescu over at Canada Free Press
In the spring of 2011, Donald Trump threatened to start a revolution within the Republican Party, appealing to the naive among Tea Partiers by promising to take on President Obama as no one else could. All too many members of the conservative media, including even some highly reputable ones, took his nonsense seriously.
Even after abandoning his prospective campaign, he sought to keep his name in the news by reserving the right to run as a third party candidate if he was not satisfied with the outcome of the GOP nominating process. Now, at last, he apparently feels that his threats, promises, and reservations have dragged the Republican Establishment around to a position he can live with—which happens to be exactly the position the Republican Establishment has been taking from the outset.
And that’s not all. Not only has Trump endorsed Mitt Romney, but he has also revived his third party blather, warning that Romney’s nomination is the only result which will guarantee his loyalty to the Republican Party. Think about this. He is saying that if anti-Establishment constitutionalists persist in fighting against the Old Boys’ choice, he will consider taking decisive action to ensure a second term for Obama. In other words, he is telling Republican primary voters that if the Establishment’s demands are not met, he might just blow the place up.
