Shipwreck Monday-SS Eastland
The SS Eastland was commissioned in 1902 by the Michigan Steamship Company. She built by the Jenks Ship Building Company. In April 1903, the ship was named by Mrs. David Reid of South Haven, Michigan. Mrs. David Reid received a prize of $10 and a one-season pass on the ship. The ship was named in May, immediately before its inaugural voyage.
The SS Eastland was a passenger ship based in Chicago and used for tours. On 24 July 1915 the ship rolled over while tied to a dock in the Chicago River. A total of 844 passengers and crew were killed in what was to become the largest loss of life disaster from a single shipwreck on the Great Lakes.
Following the disaster, the Eastland was salvaged and sold to the United States Navy. After restorations and modifications the Eastland was designated as a gunboat and renamed the USS Wilmette. She was used primarily as a training vessel on the Great Lakes and was scrapped following World War II.
Obama Forced Into Back Seat By God Bless America By Judi McLeod
Obama forced into back seat by God Bless America by Judi McLeod over at Canada Free Press
No one is ever more ignored on Memorial Day than Pretend Messiah President Barack Obama.
If it weren’t for his re-election campaign Obama would likely hide out for all of Memorial Day and likely July 4th, too.
How patriotic songs, especially the revered one called God Bless America must pain Obama who works feverishly on the fundamental transformation of the country that is the envy of the world.
Patriotic songs can be heard every day over the 40s station of Sirius Radio, and are played non-stop on Memorial Day weekend.
Marching to tune of his own music, Obama doesn’t hear them.
This Memorial Day weekend Mrs. Barack Obama, ‘Michelle‘ to the unwashed masses went off to a Beyonce concert to hear her kind of patriotic music.
According to AP, “The first lady got a roaring cheer that matched Beyonce’s as she made her way to her seat in a shiny green dress. Some fans took photos while others screamed her name. One yelled, “This is history!”
Daughters Sasha and Malia “even sang along to the old school-sounding jam “Love on Top.”
Michelle has said if she could be anyone else, it would be Beyonce. This is one dream many patriots wish were true.
That’s Memorial Day weekend music, Michelle and daughters style.
Even as this column was being written, Judy Garland could be heard belting out The Battle Hymn of the Republic on Sirius. How many people hearing it felt pride for America running up their spines?
Since his election, Obama has tried to stamp out patriotism both at home and abroad. While some American enemies in foreign lands have cheered him on, unbridled patriotism keeps America high above its architect of destruction.
God, patriotism, love and all things positive are far stronger than the puny defender of the failed ideal of Marxism.

A Few Questions About Dan Rather
From my understanding Dan Rather is a disgraced TV journalist. Dan Rather lied about a news story. Why isn’t he hiding his head in shame in retirement? Why is he still speaking? When he speaks, does he really think people will listen and believe what he says after his journalistic snafu?

Honoring Fallen Veterans – We Can DO This By Craig Andresen
Honoring Fallen Veterans – We Can DO This by Craig Andresen over at The National Patriot
Friends and Patriots,
It is Memorial Day weekend and where we, at The National Patriot, would normally publish a story regarding our heroes, this year I am asking for your help.
We hear, every year around this time and sometimes around Veteran’s Day…Stories of soldier’s graves in states of disrepair. We shake our heads, say it’s awful, and wish it were not the case.
It doesn’t have to be the case. We can make a difference.
In every town and city, in communities and neighborhoods across this great nation, there are cemeteries. Within them are the final resting places of our soldiers. Men and women who either died in the service of our country or those who came home, lived and died after their service.
Military grave, many of them, go back to into the ages of time. Many of these heroes families have died or moved away. Those graves receive what care the groundskeepers can provide but that care is dwindling too.
Many cemeteries have faced cutbacks on grounds crews or face financial shortages which reduce the care they can provide.
This is where we can help but before I get into that, allow me to relate a few examples of the disrepair.
In some places, thieves steal the brass flower vases from veteran’s graves. In other places, the markers themselves have been damaged, vandalized or simply weathered with age.
Some cemeteries have more military graves to contend with and fewer people employed to tend them.
Some are overgrown with weeds or tall grass.
These are just a few of the problems but my friends and fellow Patriots…WE can handle this.
Here is the idea.
Go to your local or community cemetery and speak to the management. Tell them you want to do something for the military sites there.
Gather your Patriot friends. Contact the local Boy and Girl Scouts to look for more volunteers. If you have a local VFW, they can help find volunteers too. Local or regional motorcycle clubs are a great resource as well!! Explain the issue and how you intend to help and set a time for a group meeting.
Gather your volunteer’s email addresses and set up an email newsletter to better stay in contact with them!
Walk through the cemetery and identify the military graves and note what problems you see.

My Daily Bible Read-Titus 2
Titus 2
1 You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,
5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.
7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness
8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,
10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
15 These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
Psalms 93
Psalms 93
1 The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty;
the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure.
2 Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.
3 The seas have lifted up, Lord, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.
4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
mightier than the breakers of the sea—the Lord on high is mighty.
5 Your statutes, Lord, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days.
2 Chronicles 9
2 Chronicles 9
1 When the queen of Sheba heard of Solomon’s fame, she came to Jerusalem to test him with hard questions. Arriving with a very great caravan—with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones—she came to Solomon and talked with him about all she had on her mind.
2 Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for him to explain to her.
3 When the queen of Sheba saw the wisdom of Solomon, as well as the palace he had built,
4 the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, the cupbearers in their robes and the burnt
offerings he made at the temple of the Lord, she was overwhelmed.
5 She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true.
6 But I did not believe what they said until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half the greatness of your wisdom was told me; you have far exceeded the report I heard.
7 How happy your people must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom!
8 Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on his throne as king to rule for the Lord your God. Because of the love of your God for Israel and his desire to uphold them forever, he has made you king over them, to maintain justice and righteousness.”
9 Then she gave the king 120 talents of gold, large quantities of spices, and precious stones. There had never been such spices as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
10 (The servants of Hiram and the servants of Solomon brought gold from Ophir; they also brought algumwood and precious stones.
11 The king used the algumwood to make steps for the temple of the Lord and for the royal palace, and to make harps and lyres for the musicians. Nothing like them had ever been seen in Judah.)
12 King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for; he gave her more than she had brought to him. Then she left and returned with her retinue to her own country.
13 The weight of the gold that Solomon received yearly was 666 talents,
14 not including the revenues brought in by merchants and traders. Also all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the territories brought gold and silver to Solomon.
15 King Solomon made two hundred large shields of hammered gold; six hundred shekels of hammered gold went into each shield.
16 He also made three hundred small shields of hammered gold, with three hundred shekels of gold in each shield. The king put them in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon.
17 Then the king made a great throne covered with ivory and overlaid with pure gold.
18 The throne had six steps, and a footstool of gold was attached to it. On both sides of the seat were armrests, with a lion standing beside each of them.
19 Twelve lions stood on the six steps, one at either end of each step. Nothing like it had ever been made for any other kingdom.
20 All King Solomon’s goblets were gold, and all the household articles in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. Nothing was made of silver, because silver was considered of little value in Solomon’s day.
21 The king had a fleet of trading ships manned by Hiram’s servants. Once every three years it returned, carrying gold, silver and ivory, and apes and baboons.
22 King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.
23 All the kings of the earth sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.
24 Year after year, everyone who came brought a gift —articles of silver and gold, and robes, weapons and spices, and horses and mules.
25 Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horses, which he kept in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem.
26 He ruled over all the kings from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt.
27 The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills.
28 Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and from all other countries.
29 As for the other events of Solomon’s reign, from beginning to end, are they not written in the records of Nathan the prophet, in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam son of Nebat?
30 Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.
31 Then he rested with his ancestors and was buried in the city of David his father. And Rehoboam his son succeeded him as king.
