Ever since he was confirmed as attorney general, Eric Holder has had his own agenda, supported by the Obama administration. As chief law enforcement officer, many of his decisions have not been in the best interest of this country.

American Thinker interviewed congressmen who see the fiasco of "Fast and Furious" as the last straw and cite this as the final reason Eric Holder needs to resign. In a 2009 operation ATF requested that gun shop owners sell guns, including AK47s, to straw buyers from the Mexican drug cartels. There were approximately 2,500 weapons involved, and to date, only 600 have been recovered. ATF field agents complained that allowing these guns into the hands of criminals set a bad precedent.

Border Congressmen Brian Bilbray (R-CA), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and Ted Poe (R-TX) are all in agreement that either Eric Holder is an incompetent attorney general because he did not know what was happening, or he knew and is trying to stonewall Congress and cover up the investigation. It appears that it is the latter, since those in charge of the botched operation have been reassigned or promoted with their pensions intact while the ATF whistle-blowers face isolation, retaliation, and transfer. Bilbray angrily stated, "Retaliation against the whistle-blowers is illegal. This is just another case where Holder believes in employee rights unless it is an employee that is blowing the whistle on something this administration has done. This is suspicious conduct which has the effect of silencing people who give information and promoting those who he knows was involved."

I have long thought that the world is nuts, especially the world of Washington, D.C. Now I am sure. It seems Washington, D.C. has a rat problem. No, not that kind, the four-legged kind. Some of the rats are big as cats, so big that some homeowners are fearful of permitting their cats to confront the rats after dark. Traditionally, rats have always been fearful of cats, but not these super rats!

Rats have infested some half-million-dollar homes and have been seen robbing bird feeders in daylight. Other homeowners have had rats come up in the commode from the sewer system. One family had that experience three times!

Washington’s Wildlife Protection Act of 2010 now requires pest control companies to capture rats “and capture them in families” but no one knows how to identify a “family.” Then the rats have to be relocated. However, the relocation must be humane. Rats must be relocated at least 25 miles away (so that would eliminate moving them to the White House) because they will return unless there is a river between their old home and the new one. Of course there is the Potomac River and that has RATtled Virginia. They see animal control officials dropping off the disease-infested vermin in their state knowing the river will keep them there. Maryland is also up in arms–which they could use against rats although PETA officials might get heartburn thinking of those poor, defenseless rats being shot by heartless citizens.

Apparently, the scum burned a flag they stole from City Hall, so automatically, we can identify them as lefties, because only they and the Jihadists really go in for that sort of thing. If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s an occupier.

What happened to the House of Representatives the TEA party put in office in 2010? Excuses. There always has been and there always will be excuses.

I’ve heard from a few people really concerned about the polling in Florida, showing Gingrich down, and Romney up, which seems at least in part to be contradicted by the sense of things on the ground. I am going to show you how a poll can be twisted, and how you can’t trust them, and if you allow them to form your opinion, you can actually be manipulated. Let’s start with a very popular poll, the PPP(Public Policy Polling) outfit that currently shows Romney leading 40% to 32%.

In this poll, when you read to the bottom of the page and examine the data, you discover the following:

“The PPP poll surveyed 387 likely Florida Republican primary voters on January 28th with a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.”(emphasis mine)

Ladies and gentlemen, when you see ANY poll with such a small sample size, it’s GARBAGE. When you see any poll with a margin of error of more than 3%, it’s likely garbage, particularly if it has a small sample size. For a state as large and diverse as Florida, any poll that doesn’t survey at least 1500 people, with a margin of error well below 4% is a poll intended to generate a headline and drive you.

Florida State Rep. and Romney hack Will Weatherford has admitted that he’s helping insure TEA Party favorite Alan West out of Congress:

Over the past several weeks, many Republicans have voiced their disappointment towards the Republican legislature after the release of the preliminary redistricting maps. Much of the ire concerns the proposed boundaries of Congressman Allen West’s 22nd Congressional District that would be redrawn to include far more registered Democrats.

West’s congressional district inexplicably sheds the most out support as compared to all other incumbent Republican and Democrat Congressman. A few weeks back we quoted an unnamed legislator saying that, “Allen West was screwed”, a statement which was originally made about made five months before the purposed maps were made public, leading insiders to believe that the fix was in against Allen West. But in light of Weatherford’s comment, it is increasingly clear that this is a fait accompli.

According to Weatherford, those preliminary maps will not change- at the most, any additional changes would be minimal, and those changes would not make any appreciable difference from the preliminary maps. In addition, Weatherford stated that a deal was struck between him, Senate President Mike Haridopolos, and Senator Don Gaetz to finalize these maps and push them through as soon as possible. Weatherford also said that the proposed maps are in legal compliance with both the Voting Rights Act and Amendment 6.

I wonder about some of my fellow conservatives, who at the first sign of trouble, abandon the candidate who they supported only a week ago, particularly since the charges against him were largely out-of-context fabrications drummed up by supporters of the candidate he defeated last Saturday. In abandoning Gingrich so easily, for those who have openly supported him, what does it say about the state of conservatism that when smeared, rather than fighting the smears, we tuck tails and run away? Thankfully, those rare leaders such as Governor Sarah Palin won’t take that approach, and while she and the few others willing to stand against the establishment try to rally conservatives and Tea Party folk to understand the true nature of the assault launched against them, we shouldn’t run away from this fight. We, who say it is our party, and not the party of the establishment, should for once and all times deliver an unrelenting statement of who exactly runs this party.

By heading off for the tall grass in search of a place to hide, since “when elephants fight, only the grass suffers,” we ought for once to realize this is our fight, and this is our time. While Newt was not my first choice, he’s better by far than the apparent leading alternative, and if we don’t rally behind him at this point, that alternative is likely to prevail. We like to point out that the GOP establishment consists of “RINOs,” but my question for you is this: If we bow out of this struggle because it has become a little messy, or because dis-entangling the truth from all the lies is too tedious, are we not in fact surrendering the party to them? Who then are the RINOs?

We conservatives who value our independence of judgment, and our devotion to principle first before party ought not abandon so easily when it becomes clear our conservative candidates are being torpedoed. I hung in there with Cain until the bitter end, not because I was a big Cain proponent(I had my issues with him on several things,) but because I was unwilling to let the obvious take-down win the argument. On substance, by all means, take on Herman Cain, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to let the mudslingers acting on behalf of others carry out such a demonic hit. I’ll not support that, whatever I may think of Cain’s policy ideas.

First the good news. Yesterday—26 January—I watched live feed of an extraordinary event. The setting was a courtroom in Georgia and the presiding jurist was Deputy Chief Judge Michael Malihi. The case centered around and on Barack Hussein Obama’s eligibility to be placed on the Georgia ballot in the upcoming 2012 General Election(s). During the hearing, 3 attorneys—Orly Taitz, Van Irion and J. Mark Hatfield—presented their witnesses and individual ineligibility cases brought against Mr. Obama.

Neither Obama nor his attorney Michael Jablonski were in attendance—both having opted to avoid and skip the proceedings altogether—and none of the court’s required production of Obama’s eligibility was provided.

Note: Jablonski seems to be perpetuating the long-standing myth that his client is above the law and now—by association—he appears to be operating under the delusion that he is, also. This brings up the interesting possibility of Atty. Jablonski—having provided no apparent legal reason for his non-attendance—being subject to revocation of his license to practice law in the State of Georgia. But, that’s a discussion for another time.

The evidence presented was strong and there appears to be, at least, a 50-50 chance of Judge Malihi and the State of Georgia ruling in plaintiffs’ favor. Judge Malihi will file a report, including his recommendations, with the Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp. When a decision is given by Judge Malihi, this will be the first time that any ruling on the merits of Obama’s eligibility will have been rendered. Note: After yesterday’s hearing there was some indication that Judge Malihi was planning to rule for the plaintiffs. But, I have been unable to confirm the report.

The Jungle; it was an expose of the meatpacking industry circa 1905. Sinclair stated that he wrote it to stimulate sympathy for immigrants, instead it started the demand for food safety that lead to the Pure Food and Drug Act. There should be better way to obtain this result but, we haven’t found it, instead we’ve trusted our government with poor results. Has anything changed? Yes, food is at least somewhat safer now. Interestingly, one of the drivers in the packing industry for better quality control has been, wait for it: McDonald’s and Wendy’s, they won’t accept mediocre quality or contaminated hamburger.

This afternoon I came across a report from Human Rights Watch entitled Blood, Sweat, and Fear. And yes I know, most of us consider Human Rights Watch a leftist organization, which it is. But when you are right, you’re right. In this case they’re right.

If you haven’t noticed I live in a town that is dominated by a Tyson Meat plant and I have many friends and neighbors that work or have worked there. That includes me, by the way. This town is also a Hispanic majority town, with Thais, and Somalians represented. I’ll tell you why as we go along. Incidentally, these studies are not new, I just happened to run across them. In my opinion, things have gotten worse.

In the heated political divide, partisan supporters and detractors know no bounds in terms of their defense or attacks. Party and politics, not truth, are what matters. Both sides spin, distort, and lie in their efforts to gain advantage. The spoils for the victor in politics have become so great as to trump integrity and other sacred values. Truth is the biggest victim. To practice truth in modern-day politics is verboten. Loyalty to party and ideology trumps everything else. Truth is a disqualifier in this racket.

I watched an extremely disturbing TV program about two boys in high school who killed a girl solely for the experience. Both boys, having aspirations of becoming movie producers, documented their murder adventure on video. Their video included a playful interview with their unsuspecting victim at her school locker. The obviously bright and beautiful girl looked into the camera, laughing while answering the boys' silly questions. Later that evening, the boys bludgeoned and stabbed her to death. One of the two boys commented, "Making murder illegal makes people want to do it."

I realize that this case is an extreme incident.

Another TV program featured a police sting operation. A car was parked unlocked, with the key in the ignition, to attract car thieves. A well-organized gang of five kids ranging in ages from 13 to 15, without hesitation, stole the car. All five kids cussed like sailors and wore their pants below their butts.

Again, I realize that this incident of a gang of middle- and junior high school kids stealing a car is anecdotal.

However, unquestionably, many youths today are callous towards the sanctity of life and are void of a moral compass regarding right and wrong.

You’re being manipulated. A well respected, highly influential news source has cast aside all journalistic integrity to shill for the liberal, GOP establishment candidate in this presidential race.

The New York Times, you say? MSNBC? The Washington Post? No. We all gave up on those “progressive” rags a long time ago.

Regrettably, the latest media outlet to assume a decidedly yellow hue during this heated primary cycle is the Drudge Report. It pains me to even write this. Drudge has always been both my first and last internet news stops of the day.

It’s often said, “Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel.” Well, Drudge deals in pixels instead of ink, but the same principle applies.

Still, this is a fight worth having.

In past years, Matt Drudge has done a fair job of playing it down the middle during presidential primaries. Not this time. In the game of “Washington insider hold ‘em,” the Drudge Report is “all in” for Willard Mitt Romney. It’s not even subtle.

I was suspicious about this debate when I heard Tammy Bruce play audio on Thursday of Romney telling his supporters who couldn’t get tickets to shove their way in, so I wasn’t surprised to hear rumors as the debate wore on that the audience was stacked with Romney supporters. The scuttlebutt is that 900 additional Romney supporters were brought in by the Florida Republican party, but I’m looking for confirmation. It seems that the Florida GOP did control 900 of the 1200 seats, so if they wanted to rig it for Romney, they certainly could have, but as of yet, I have been unable to confirm that it was disproportionately given to Romney supporters, but the fact that the Florida party controlled them means it could have been.

If I had to pick a “winner,” I would say Rick Santorum, but that’s provisional, because I think while he definitely made some excellent points, and put Romney in the position of making an ass of himself, I also suspect most people didn’t catch one thing he said that would actually damn him in my book, and theirs if they thought about it. If I had to say who was most honest in this debate, I would say Ron Paul, followed by Gingrich and Santorum in a tie for second, with Romney getting the evening’s Pinochio award.

You might ask why I would give Mitt Romney such a distinction, but it has to do with what he said about his vote in 1992. In the primary that year, he voted for Paul Tsongas, in the Democrat primary, so I’m a bit confused about what he said during this debate. The other significant issue was his use of the whole Gingrich “ghetto” business in relation to language. What Newt had been discussing was that he didn’t want to see people locked into ghettos defined by language barriers because they had not learned English. It had nothing whatever to do with the Spanish language, or those who speak it, as Romney and his ad attempted to imply. These two lies were the worst among lesser ones, but definitely noteworthy.

"Color Blind Racism" was the title of a recent article in the Henry Louis Gates, Jr. on-line publication, The Root. If you recall, Henry Louis Gates, Jr. last appeared on this blog for his unsubstantiated charge of racism against a policeman for following protocol, and The Root was last seen here for its list of blacks whom they would like to see erased from history. The list was a who's who of murders, cannibals and despicable people, and included both Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and right wing black politician Alan Keyes.

So what is "color blind racism?" According to The Root, it is "a racial ideology that expresses itself in seemingly nonracial terms. As such, it is most practiced by people who never see themselves outside their own myopic worldview. " What that means in practice is a redefinition of racism from its actual meaning, a belief that a particular race is inherently inferior, into a wholly new arena, where, mirabile dictu, criticism directed towards blacks, and indeed, the mere mention of any inconvenient fact, is inherently racist. The "Orwellian term, 'color blind racism.'" is, as James Taranto at the WSJ describes it, "the pithiest summation we've ever encountered of the absurdity of contemporary left-liberal racial dogma."

In what can only be called a stunning, face-slapping rebuttal, Jeffrey Lord has discovered that Elliott Abrams’ story about Gingrich’s alleged criticism of President Reagan were not only erroneously characterized, but almost certainly indicates it was an intentional hit-piece by Abrams, that Abrams must have known was dishonest. It points out the problem going on with much of Romney’s campaign of destruction aimed at Gingrich, and it points out how thoroughly damaging such a thing can be when amplified almost infinitely by the roaring link-fest of the Drudge Report. Abrams’ hit-piece stayed up on Drudge for more than twenty-four hours, and there will be no rebuttal. The only way the truth will be distributed at this point is for you, the public, to undertake this chore.

When this election season began, I felt no particular affinity for any specific candidate. I looked forward to the Republican campaign for the nomination to shake out who was best qualified to be our President. But that campaign has turned into an intellectually dishonest horror show that leads me to question whether the leaders of the Republican Party represent my interests as a conservative.

As to the horror show, the story of Newt Gingrich's time in the House is ably recounted by Jeffery Lord at American Spectator. It, and the Byron York piece on the ethics complaints against Gingrich, draw an incredibly stark contrast to the screed coming out of much of the right wing punditry - NRO, Coulter, Hinderaker, etc. - and most of which you will find headlined over Drudge today. If you were to read this utterly dishonest tripe, you would think that Gingrich was a Reagan hating neo-progressive who lacked ethics above and beyond the adultery issue and who resigned from his position as Speaker of the House because of valid ethics charges.

There are many legitimate arguments for preferring Gingrich as the Republican nominee. Indeed, Thomas Sowell makes many of those arguments in his latest column. And there are many legitimate arguments for preferring Romney, particularly for the risk averse and for those comfortable with our nation as it is. A handful of people, Charles Krauthammer, Jonah Goldberg and several others have made respectful and fair arguments in this regards.

He left it up in exactly the same way he allowed his anti-Newt stories of last Wednesday and Thursday to remain up most of the day, despite the fact that it had been revealed most were over-hyped re-hashings of old stories. Many in the media and all of the Democratic punditry salivate at the concept of the Tea Party picking the GOP nominee. The groupthink/convention wisdom is that a Tea Party-ordained nominee is akin to picking Sharon Angle in Nevada or Christine O'Donnell in Delaware. Of course it's not, but no sense in letting them in on that.

Let the left think that the Tea Party is "dying out" (Harry Reid) or that the nominating process is a "disaster" (James Carville). These are the same sort of comments made about conservative GOP candidates or platforms prior to 1980, 1994, and, most recently, 2010.

The clear analysis is actually that when the left gets this loud, this angry and hateful, this emotional, and this certain, it is because the left is running scared. It ought to be. Any attempt at sober analysis cannot come to a conclusion that "Occupy" is an important and influential movement and that the "Tea Party" is a dead soldier in the battle for hearts and minds. I know some of you have seen “The Exorcist”, the movie with Linda Blair. You will probably remember the scenes of the Priest throwing holy water on the demon possessed girl. The Priest is also saying prayers and reading scriptures from the Bible over the poor girl.

You will remember then how the demon possessed girl acted to the exorcism. She spit out green pea soup on the Priest, call the Priest names a child shouldn’t be saying, telling lies about the Priest, trying to show the priest they (demons) were in control even when they weren’t. The demons inside the child were fighting to stay inside her.

Now, think about how the Democrats have been acting recently. They been spitting out lies, calling non-racist racist, doing criminal things, threaten bills to keep the American people in their place and suing States. Their doing all this to stay in power DC like demons fighting to stay in a human body when being exorcised.

We can’t forget the Republican elite in DC. Some of them been like demons, sneaking behind the people’s backs voting on bills with Democrats that can put American citizens in detainment for who knows how long. Calling American people names that have minds of own and not easily manipulated by their shenanigans. Some of them have been become corrupt, making millions on our dime.

Tim Wise, captain of the race industry, recently wrote a polemic essay about what he calls "Patriotic Correctness." What is ostensibly a piece about Arizona's Tucson Unified School District having their ethnic studies program outlawed because it focuses on one racial group degenerates into his usual tripe about how anyone who favors the policy in question is a racist. But, what caught my eye about this one was not his characteristic rants against any attempt to celebrate or uphold anything traditionally white, Christian, or American. Yes, it is true. The substance of the supposed cockfights in Carolina was actually far more intellectually important and informative than anything that was accomplished in Tampa. Frankly, what these debates must have are intelligent, concerned, and rowdy crowds to keep the feckless and clueless liberal moderators on the subject of anything important. Moreover, their reaction to the passionate and articulate defense of conservatism is a good way to motivate the candidates to keep articulating conservatism with passion too. It's a win-win. And for the media and other liberals, it's a lose-lose.

Without the crowd as a governor, so to speak, Monday night in Tampa, what we saw was a tortuous exercise where supposedly valuable time was wasted discussing the difference between sugar cane and sugar beets, Terry Schiavo and "Do Not Resuscitate" (DNR) orders, Elian Gonzales, and something about the Everglades that I'm sure is important to Floridians -- but should be none of the federal government's business in all likelihood. And all of this crucial business was after we were tortured over how many years of tax returns the son of George Romney should release -- and some kind of discussion of business overhead that had something to do with gross versus net income of venture capital firms versus consulting firms versus CEO compensation of said firms and whether or not a man on Mars should pay that high a rate. Yesterday I was attacked by occasional commenter, Medusa, who told me to get off my arse and get a real job, the implication being that staying home to raise my children is not worth my time and they turn out just fine if a woman works full-time. In fact she went further and implied her children would turn out better than mine because she worked while they were growing up! Anyway, Medusa's comment was incredibly catty and I responded in kind, but, it reminded me of this post that I wanted to write. Namely that feminism has influenced very deeply how most people see women in society and what little value is given to motherhood.

Marxism early on recognised the bourgeoisie mother at home as a real obstacle in achieving a socialist society and so worked on making all women think that they would be far more valuable working than staying home raising their children and looking after their families. In other words, becoming a generator of income rather than a raiser and teacher of children. This way, the woman would be separated from her children and less able to influence them in order to pass on conservative family values and religion.

Several decades on from when working outside the home was mostly a choice, and something women did only because of necessity; now families rely on that second income, making the mother at home somewhat of an anachronism. What is wrong with a woman who stays home, people think. Well ... nothing actually. In a society where the absurd has become normalised, nothing at all.

If I did watch it, I would probably compare Obama speech to watching the movie “Alien”. I would put my hands over my eyes every time a horror part of his speech came. I would open a couple of fingers to see how many people Obama ate with his speech. I would probably have to bring one of my hands down over my mouth to keep from screaming when he told a lie. I would be happy with joy at the end knowing the Alien-I mean Obama was gone and there were survivors. In other words, Obama’s speech would been like watching a horror movie to me.

Godzilla Occupies Washington DC Then The States

I was thinking about Godzilla this evening. I was thinking how much I liked Godzilla even though some of the movies were sorta corny. I started to think of a scene from the original Godzilla movie, where he went on a rampage of destroying Tokyo. As the scene went through my mind, I started to think “Godzilla is occupying Tokyo”.

My mind dropped the rampaging Tokyo scene and switched to some stupid scientists bringing a heavy tranquilized Godzilla to (gasp) Washington DC. These stupid scientist didn’t use the common sense the good Lord gave them and reinforce the tranquilizer dose on Godzilla before they left the ship. The next thing, my mind is seeing one eye of Godzilla slowly opening then his next eye is becoming wide open. This huge dinosaur is starting to move and rocking the boat literally.

Now, I got the normal scene of sailors shooting at Godzilla and some abandoning ship. Godzilla stomping on sailors as he is rambling off the ship. This gigantic dinosaur is headed to our country’s capital.

The scene switches to our president as military personal, the secretaries, and their informing Obama of catastrophe Godzilla is causing. The military personal are asking Obama to send our soldiers to engage Godzilla, in other words kill the beast. Obama sternly shakes his head no then states Godzilla is an endangered species and deserves to live.

We have a giant creature on the rampage. Killing people! Destroying cars! Tearing down telephone lines! Sending people running in terror! Godzilla is even trampling on Democrats’ precious occupiers. And Obama says to do nothing. I decided it was time to turn my mind off and concentrate on something else but my mind won’t. My imagination wasn’t going to let me. There wouldn’t be a happy ending. I knew it.

It is sad when you think about it. We could have a Godzilla come through our country and Obama wouldn’t lift a finger to help his fellow Americans, the people he swore to protect. He would want to please his PETA people, look what he did on the Keystone Pipeline.

Of course, Obama wouldn’t be above using Godzilla as an excuse to ask the House and Senate for money. We need tranquilizers, large nets to capture the gaint T-Rex. Land where Godzilla could roam, be happy on. Obama would say. If Obama got the money, would it go to capturing Godzilla. It would be like the stimulus money for jobs. It would go to different places, not to what it was intended for.

Godzilla would still be on a path of destruction, heading to Virginia. Virginia tries to do something about Godzilla. Of course, we all know that would go over like a lead balloon with Obama. Obama would sue Virginia for trying to harm an endangered species and Godzilla would still be causing chaos. Think about it, how many states would Godzilla go through before anything is done about him.

Do you think the House and Senate would impeach Obama so something could get done about Godzilla? Has either house done anything to really impeach Eric Holder or just pretending they are? They haven’t really done anything about inside trading thing. No one is being kick out for that.

Do you think our military would go against Obama to do something about Godzilla? Only if we got a leader in the military with some guts but right now it doesn’t look like it.

Who knows what the Secret Service is trying to do?

Our FBI, ATF, etc have become corrupt. Their to busy trying to save their butts to even care.

Who is going to stand against Obama so the people to get something about Godzilla? Well, we know the MSM isn’t going to even sound an alarm because all we are getting is how great Obama is for not destroying this lovely reptile.

The Democrats in office are crying “How racist the American people are for going against Obama in his decision to save Godzilla?” This monster is out here killing people and we’re racist for wanting something done about a run-amok monster. Some are even saying it is Bush’s fault for Godzilla’s rampage. I don’t know where they got that one from. It started on Obama’s watch. Some are being really hateful with their remarks.

The Republicans are doing enough to appease the American people by blocking stupid bills on endanger species. The Republicans aren’t doing enough to get rid of Godzilla. Godzilla still creating chaos.

The American people are crying out for help against Godzilla and none of our leaders (except a few are trying) are coming to their aid. Think how pathetic this is. The American people are going to have to slay Godzilla on their own. This is how they are thinking now. The American people are going to have to vote the Democrats and Republican elites out of office and get someone in that will take care of Godzilla for them before he destroys the rest of the US.

Well, maybe this will have a happy ending after all. We will have to wait and see.

Standing before a room full of supposedly sanctimonious Right-wing, Bible-thumping conservatives who sat in judgment of him was the twice divorced sexual rogue.

Proving just how desperate the Left is, CNN moderator John King pounced, leading the fracas off with a question of Gingrich's sexual proclivities. Oh how he underestimated Gingrich.

Romney Bashes Gingrich as “Disgrace” by Mark over at Mark America

As expected, the battle for Florida has turned particularly nasty as Mitt Romney and his numerous surrogates escalate their war on Newt Gingrich. Politico is reporting that Mitt Romney is mudslinging all over the campaign trail, heaping harsh words on Newt Gingrich. The word that Romney and his surrogates seem to like most is “disgrace” or “embarrassment.” I don’t know what is more disgraceful or embarrassing than a desperate candidate running around making such attacks. Romney’s shift into ultra-negative territory is a clear attempt to try to move undecided voters away from Gingrich, but I think it’s clear that the net effect will tend to hurt Romney in the broader audience. On Sunday, the country watched Romney’s shills run out into the media to deliver scathing attacks on Gingrich, but I doubt it’s very effective. Traveling in Florida, in Ormond Beach, Romney said of Gingrich:

“Speaker Gingrich has also been a leader,” the former Massachusetts governor said. “He was a leader for four years as speaker of the House. And at the end of four years, it was proven that he was a failed leader and he had to resign in disgrace. I don’t know whether you knew that, he actually resigned after four years, in disgrace.”

That’s a scathing attack, but the trouble is it’s not reflective of what really happened. As a matter of fact, Gingrich was ousted by his own party, who feared that he had been the source of some losses in the 1998 election cycle. Romney went on:
